“Shrine and Altar” is a journey into the base elements that are used to establish a sacred space of mindful meditation, spiritual awakening, and divine communion with the guardian forces of the cosmos. In this work the reader will be given tools in the form of knowledge that they can use as the building blocks for their spiritual work.

A sacred space is a focused portal and spiritual gateway to worlds beyond our own. In this life of five sensory perception physical tools are often utilized in order to align all of our faculties to one intention. The erecting of a sacred space accomplishes this goal as it creates a single focused environment aimed at the singular goal of spiritual cultivation and empowerment. This book pursues a simplistic approach to altar/shrine erection in order to establish a foundational facility in the reader and spiritual aspirant. Before you lend your efforts to the design and construction of your next sacred space, you would do well to study the gems offered in this great work.

It is hard for me to give a concise summary of the content because for a small book, it’s very solid. This book covers the differences between shrines, altars and other sacred spaces. It provide meaningful and relevant description of purpose of each and what should/shouldn’t be included from a universal perspective. The booklet also addresses construction, maintenance, and consecration of sacred spaces. I love this book because it presented the materials in way that will allow anyone – regardless of their spiritual alignments – to work with sacred spaces. It is a practical hands on book that’s easy to read and understand. It enhanced my understanding and was effective as persuading me to make some changes to my sacred spaces both at home and work. I bought one copy for myself and one as a gift. Although I’ve been working with shrines and altars for over 20 years, this is a wonderful reference and frankly probably the only book I really need going forward. Lastly, the book is reasonably priced. My advice, before you build or change your ancestral shrine, altars or sacred space, get your copy.

One of the greater challenges in embracing spirituality is knowing where and how to begin. There are a lot of sources of information but sometimes the material can be so cryptic or convoluted that we feel like we’re no closer to understanding anything. This book gets straight to the point of setting up a shrine and alter and is concise without being overly simplistic. A good staring point for someone looking to set up a shine or alter to do their spirit work effectively.
